the tortoise and the hairy and a house on a hill

.
in other news (because the picture above is clearly news) we are going to talk to the bank today about getting a construction to permanent loan. this is the first "real" step in trying to build our dream house. we have met with a potential builder already and REALLY like them (OMG he is so HOT!...jesse agrees with me), but before we can seriously talk with any builder, we need to know what our budget is. and the bank will tell us that. banks are harder to borrow money from these days than scrooge mcduck because they were asstards giving it away to kindergartners for so long...so we are hoping and putting on our best "yes we will give you your money back over the next 30 years" faces.
.
one of the greatest things that jesse and i have ever given each other was that we both came into the marriage debt free. we didn't have to get student loans because we had full academic (jesse/k8 for one semester until i lost it) and athletic (k8 the final 3 years) scholarships for college and we didn't have car payments because our parents gave us cars in college (since they didn't have to pay for our school). additionally we have made credit our bitch. we use credit cards to buy everything and A-L-W-A-Y-S pay them off 100% every month. thus, we have never paid the credit card companies a cent more than what we've spent and we have taken literally thousands of dollars from them in rewards money, points, and such. ungggh! take that, credit!
.
yes, i am bragging. i am so very proud of the fiscal responsibility we have shown in our youth and also extremely aware of how very fortunate we are to have had the great start we did from our (not rich; but wise) parents' examples and generosity.
.
so excuse me for saying, but they should be begging us to take their hundreds of thousands of dollars. even still, jesse and i wore abnormally grown-up clothes today for a change to try to trick the bankers into thinking we are actual adults and not the prematurely-aged 13 year olds that we typically dress like.
.
yet this is all still very preliminary since even if they gave us a million bucks in a green pleather satchel today, we'd still need to sell our house first, which is also not as easy as falling off a log these days. the timing of all this is very tricky so that we don't A: end up paying 2 mortgages at the same time and B: end up homeless for 7 months living in our POD storage container.
